Tremors were felt in India and Okhla when a powerful earthquake struck parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan-Tajikistan border of the Hindukush region today. Two people died and four were injured till the filing of the report. In Okhla many residents didn’t realize the magnitude of the quake that according to reports struck at 3.58 pm and went on for several minutes. “It was at about 4 pm when I felt the tremor in Delhi. For a few seconds my chair rocked,” said Sarita Vihar resident Pintoo, who gave only one name. Within minutes a few Okhla residents updated on their timeline. Shariq Khan wrote: “Earthquake again in Delhi.” However many residents completely missed it and only came to know from social media platforms or TV. “I really missed it. It was only a few minutes ago when somebody called me to share the information that tremors were felt. It was for a short period and hence many people must have missed it. I still remember a few months ago when my family was rattled by the tremors that stayed for a few minutes. It was impact of earthquake in Nepal that had devastated the impoverished country,” said Rozy Khanam, a stay-at-home mother in Jamia Nagar.
