The rise of drug abuse in Okhla’s Jamia Nagar has been talked about these days.

With no data available, it is not known how serious the issue is in the locality. However, from time to time local leaders and some activists raise the issue of young boys getting hooked to drugs, including ganja, hookah flavour, inhaling of rubber solution.

There is concern over substance abuse picking up as a trend among school goers. A report in Sunday Guardian to points out about how school children in Delhi are falling prey to drug and substance abuse as they are available in the city. Recreational drugs are also common, said experts.

Though leaders and activists have been talking about the increase in drug use in Okhla among youth, till now no organise initiatives have been taken in the locality to address the most burning issues.

Some residents do lamented that some youths are seen using rubber solution in isolated places in the locality.
