‘DMRC’ begins patch up work; residents dissatisfied

Long at last the patch up work on Abul Fazal Enclave-Shaheen Bagh road has begun. However, it is not known who is behind it. On being asked on Monday, a staff said it was being done by the DMRC. OKHLATIMES.COM independently could not verify his claim.

However, some residents are not satisfied with the patch up work. They think that it is a shoddy work and the road will not stand one rain. It is to be noted that before the Assembly election, this road was constructed after intervention of former Okhla MLA Pervez Hashmi, a Congress leader.

Then several local organizations and RWAs had mounted pressure on the local leaders to get things fixed up. Sadly, the road didn’t last for long as it had several potholes making life extremely difficult for commuters.

Some residents said the patch up work is not the solution as the road should be build from the foundation. “This only shows that how seriously the things are being taken up. The way the patch up work on the road is being carried out only shows that it will not last long.

The happiness is short-lived and hence residents should meet officials and convince them of the importance of making the whole road in a proper way to last for years,” said a resident, requesting not to be named.
