My mother died of dengue, said NU Khan, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave.
He told OKHLATIMES that his mother was 77-year-old and was down for dengue for the last few days.
“Initially we got her treatment in house. Later on we shifted her to Vimhans hospital,” said Khan, who is resident of D block of AFE.
A few days ago a young boy had died of dengue and he was resident of the same block, according to residents. The dengue situation is getting worse in the locality with several people being down with high fever and several death cases have been reported from the locality.
On last Monday residents were shaken after reports surfaced of two deaths on a day. A 10-month-old boy died of dengue. Earlier reports had surfaced of how Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan’s sister-in-law died of dengue.
Residents lament that Okhla is the worst hit area in Delhi.
The rise in dengue and chikungunya cases has been attributed to lack of cleanliness in the locality and waterlogged roads. And with rain lashing the city today there are fears that dengue cases might spike in the locality. Doctors have suggested that the worst is yet to come as the situation could get bad by October.
