The high level co-ordination committee meeting was convened at Hyderabad to review the progress of the computerization and digitization of the Andhra Pradesh Wakf properties records.

The meeting was presided over by the principal secretary minorities Welfare Department Dana Kishore IAS. Mohd. Khaleequr Rahman, member of the co-ordination committee pointed out that there are 1,60,000 wakf properties in Andhra Pradesh and for which there is only one surveyor which is a matter of great concern.

He said he is not able to understand why nobody pointed out this thing so far.

Khaleequr Rahman suggested that each district should have one surveyor and one chain man so that the wakf properties can be protected and the time to time survey can take place which can keep the records of the properties updated and this can also save the properties from the illegal encroachments.

The secretary Dana Kishore agreed with the proposal of Khaleequr Rahman and instructed the wakf board to submit the detailed list of the vacancies so that he can approve them.

According to the first survey, there are 38,000 properties and the second survey which is in its final stages has so far identified 72,000 properties.

The computerization, in the first phase will cover 70,000 properties which will be completed within three months time. The balance properties will be resurveyed and they also will be computerized in next three months time and accordingly, the entire computerization and digitization work of the wakf records will be completed in six months time from today.

The Joint Parliamentary committee has proposed the computerization and the digitization of all the wakf properties in the country with an estimated cost of Rs.25 crores and accordingly the Prime Minister approved Rs.10 Crore for this scheme which will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs Govt. of India.

Khaleequr Rahman said after a great deal of persuasion, this work has been started because of the interest taken by the Principal Secretary Dana Kishore and the co-operation of the Wakf Board chairman Khusru Biyabani.

The wakf board has provided the space of the 7th floor of the Haj House where the CCF has been set up. Rs.27 lakh has already been received by the wakf board for implementing this scheme.

Khaleequr Rahman said his endeavor is to see to it that the computerization work will be completed at the faster pace and no excuses will be tolerated in this regard.

In the meeting, he expressed his concern for not convening the meetings in the past by the earlier secretaries. With the computerization of the wakf records, the wakf properties will be completely protected and Khaleequr Rahman thanked the Prime Minister and the UPA Chair person for having sanctioned this scheme which talks volumes about their seriousness about the wakf properties.
