With dengue threat turning out to be a reality, as report of more deaths are surfacing in the locality, residents and representatives are worried. Though on the ground situation is yet to be improved with waterlogged roads, garbage dumped on roadsides and open nallah, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan met MCD commission and other top officials.
Khan wrote this on his timeline and also shared the photo of the meeting.
It is still too early to say whether things are going to change for better in coming days but fact of the matter is that residents are deeply upset with the development of reports of deaths. On Monday, two deaths were reported in the locality. A 10-month-old Abul Fazal Enclave boy died of dengue.
Another resident Asad Iqbal, who was living in Shaheen Bagh to continue his education, too died of dengue. Anisur Rahman told OKHLATIMES that Iqbal was in real pain at the time of death as he was banging is hands and legs on the bed. The situation was such that doctors had to tie his hands and legs with belts, he said.
Besides, several residents are down with dengue fever in the locality sparking a debate about who is responsible for cleaning in the unauthorized colony.
