Dengue awareness campaign organised in Okhla.

Several professionals, including Aquil Ahmad, organised dengue awareness campaign in Shaheen Bagh to create awareness about the deadly disease that has claimed several lives till now in Okhla, a deprive locality lacking in basic amenities.

dengueawarenessokhlaThe campaign was a successful one as a large number of dengue patients and residents turned up to get them aware about the disease, said Ahmad. It is understood that medicines and other advice too were made to the patients.

A doctor too was at the camp giving pithy advice to residents. Since dengue outbreak in the locality a few days ago, several residents have died with two people, including 10-month-old boy and a youth dying of dengue on Monday. Moreover, residents said hospitals are full with patients with several local hospitals to meet the increasing demand of patients even giving treatment to patients by making them sit on seats and whatever space available to them.

It has been known that three patients were admitted to Apollo Hospital in critical conditions after their platelet count came down drastically. Former Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan said his close relative too is hospitalized in Apollo with dengue. His platelet count is below 20,000. Youth leader Pervez Alam Khan too is down with high fever. A few days ago Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan’s sister-in-law Nazish, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, died of dengue.
