Pre-paid auto at station: Passengers made to wait for hourOT, June 23, 2012 21:12 IST Okhla Times Reporter/New Delhi Passengers who alighted from trains at New Delhi Railway station on the morning of June 22 had to face hard times in getting pre-paid auto booked. There was chaos at the booth with auto drivers not seen and their space being occupied by taxi drivers. Passengers who booked auto had to wait for hour to get the vehicle as there was no traffic police man on the spot. Nilofer Raquib, who landed at the railway station at about 7:45 AM on June 22, said: “There was chaos at the counter. I had to wait for hour to get an auto. Many passengers were sweating and distressed as they could not find the traffic police to take auto. This never happened before as NDRS has a good reputation and autos were always available within fifteen minutes.” Interestingly, taxi drivers were seen pestering passengers to book them. A passenger, who had paid and was to travel to Anand Vihar, was furious at not getting an auto. Things only settled after the traffic police arrived after an hour. Many places in Delhi are notorious for paid autos. Regular passengers complain that the Nizamuddin Railway station is the worst hit as they are made to wait for hours to book autos. Many passengers, who get down at Nizamuddin, take private autos or taxi to their home. Post a comment Top News
