A driver and conductor have been placed under suspension for playing songs in DTC bus. The action against the duo was taken following a complaint filed by a passenger (woman) on route number 990.

And from now onwards the transport department has put a ban on playing of songs in DTC buses by drivers and conductors, causing disturbances and difficulties to the passengers.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami stated that an enquiry was conducted by the department after a woman passenger complained by telephone stating that the driver was playing a song loudly.

“The contents of the song were indecent too.  While travelling in the bus she objected to it. But her complaint was not taken seriously by the driver and conductor. In fact, they tried to take it very lightly and forced her to leave the bus before her destination,” said officials.

After being forced to get down of the bus midway, she was deeply upset.

It is understood that she was not able to digest the response of the bus staff which was all against decencies.  “Their behaviour was also not as per their service conduct manual.”

Delhi government officials said that Goswami has been acting fast on receipt of complaints.

Besides, he has been travelling in the buses to see for himself the inconveniences being faced by the passengers, said an official.

The ban would also be valid in respect of cluster buses.
