Delhi’s most wanted criminal nabbed from Jamia Nagar in mid-night operation

It was about 01.00 am when STF arrived in Jamia Nagar to nab Delhi’s most wanted and dreaded criminal carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000. The criminal Asif was arrested nearby by Tiknona Park as he was trying to flee from the spot on his car, according to police.

“At about 01.00 am, one person was observed in a white colour Swift car coming from Batla House side towards Escort Hospital.  On seeing the police gypsy the driver of the car turned his car towards Okhla head. The staff deployed picket deployed at Okhla Head blocked the road by putting barricade in front of the car. Meanwhile SI blocked the way of the car from backside by his private car. The alleged driver opened the window of the car and took out his pistol and tried to ran away from the spot by showing the pistol towards the SI. But the SI came out from his car and snatched the pistol of accused and over powered him with the help of other ASI.  On interrogation he was identified as Asif @ Kala of Sunder Nagari. In this regard, a case FIR No. 235/17 dated 25.03.2017 u/s 25/27 Arms Act PS Jamia Nagar has been registered, said Romilbaaniya, IPS, DY. Commissioner of Police, South-East district.

It is understood that police had prior information of the 39-year-old man to meet his friend at Batla House and hence a trap was laid to nab him and police were successful in their operations.

“As per information, the police team was briefed accordingly and dispatched to trap the criminal. At about 12:00 am, one police picket was deployed at Tikona Park, Okhla Head road, Okhla Village and one picket was deployed at Batla House towards Escort Hospital and vehicle checking was started and other staff also took strategic position accordingly,” said the official.

The accused is a school dropout. Police said he is a hardcore criminal with several cases slapped on him for his involvement in several crimes.
