A layman guide to God particle

Is mystery of 'God particles' really solved? Many in the scientific fraternity do not think so.  But, scientists  do confirm that the recent results published in national and international media are close to their expectations and this will help unravel one of the most sought after mysteries of Quantum Physics  that how particles obtained mass.

Albert Einstein's theory postulates that all fundamental particles are massless and only a massless object can travel with the velocity of light. That is why the Standard Model of Particle explained by Peter Ware Higgs assumes importance as it will help explain how particles acquire mass. But, experimental verification of Higgs particle was eluding the scientists for decades.

From decades the mystery of 'the God particle' has been left unresolved.

A German theoretical physicist regarded as the father of modern physics, Einstein (March 14, 1879 and April 18, 1955) believed that mass is not intrinsic nature of particle rather it comes after collision with Higgs particle.

The mystery can be understood better in terms of analogy of a man who runs faster on road than in water. S/he acquires more mass after collision with water molecules. In this context the recent evidence at CERN is quite interesting but it does not offer convincing explanation of clear existence of Higgs particle.

It will still take some time to explain biggest mystery of the nature.
