As devotees gird up to celebrate Christmas on December 24 until December 25 evening, several areas would be chock-o-block and in such a situation it is important to avoid roads that are going to see large congregation. As Christmas revelry will conclude with Midnight Mass on December 25, thousands of devotees will be congregating at various Churches for prayers.
According to traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Police, major concentrations of devotes will be in New Delhi District with the main churches in the locality going to witness heavy congregation of devotees in following places:
1. Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gol Dak Khana
2. Free Church, 10 Sansad Marg
3. The Cathedral Church of the Redemption, 1 Church Road
“Traffic will remain heavy around Gol Dak Khana at following locations from 11.00 PM on 24.12.16 till 6 A.M on 25.12.2016 and mid-night of 25.12.16. People are advised to avoid the following stretches from11 PM of 24th December to 25th December Midnight,” said Garima Bhatnagar, JT Commissioner of Police, traffic.
All other roads leading towards New Delhi Railway Station & adjoining areas will remain open for general public. People are advised to use metro & public transport to reach Connaught Place and the abovementioned areas.
The nearest Metro Stations are Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Barakhamba Road, RK Ashram Marg,Central Secretariat, Janpath and Mandi House.
