It was the time of the night when residents in Okhla were asleep or some were hitting bed. It was then that the local Jamia Nagar cops were informed about a white i-10 car 15-20 meters away from land nearby Shaheen Bagh. Braving the wintry chill, some local cops rushed to the spot to get the first-hand of feeling of the situation.
And who better could describe the situation than local cop Suhaib Ahmad Farooqui.
“Heroes are those who take responsibility. The night was just started, call from control room received that a car is floating in Yamuna. (We) rushed to the spot: service-road of UP irrigation department alongside of right bank of Yamuna in front of thokar number 7 in Shaheen Bagh. A submerged white i-10 car 15-20 meters away from land was seen in turtle-pose on aquatic-weed, one of the back door was slightly opened,” wrote Farooqui on his timeline sharing photos of the vehicles and the brave cop who got down to business least bothered about the chilly winter night.
“Many fears sparked together at once in mind. Apprehension of trapping of human life (ves) as no street light was there, with the help of available equipment, my colleague constable Surendra Kasana on his own was lowered into the marshy… water which was full of weed. After struggle of lengthy 15 minutes short duration huff, the brave heart victoriously climbed over bottom of the car passing through the chilled/ unhygienic water…. We all breathed a sigh of relief that no body was found in the car. Salute to Surendra Kasana!,” he wrote.
No doubt a salute to the braveheart!!!
However, the big question remains unanswered: how the car reached there?
