Car owners in Okhla are having sleepless night

Car owners in Okhla are having sleepless night: According to Shaheen Bagh resident, Syed Hashmi robbers are targeting four-wheeler parked in houses. “The battery of my car was stolen despite it being parked in a safe place in Shaheen Bagh. Lot of theft cases are being reported in the locality,” said Hashmi in a message to residents.

It is understood that despite many days being passed the case is yet to be cracked. This is not one-off incident in the locality. Residents lamented that cases of batteries from cars are on the rise. A close relative of a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave said a few days ago battery of the car was stolen from the parking lot.

Residents attributed the theft to local ruffians and drug addicts who move around and target anything lying around. Moreover, the situation is such that in case the boys nabbed the family members and relatives start crying foul and at times they have been found mounting pressure with leaders too getting into to save their votebank, said a resident on the condition of anonymity.

“The situation is such that even the administration can do little. It is a complex situation. You just cannot nab these youths despite knowing them in the locality. Ask any residents they know who are behind such nuisance but nobody can do anything as they are united and move around in groups with backing from parents and relatives. If you nab them then chances are high that you might get in trouble as leaders also back the accused as they turn out to be from their locality,” said residents requesting not to be named for fear of retribution.
