Though local elections are months away preparations have already begun in Okhla’s Jamia Nagar. If many leaders are introducing them on social media some have resorted to posterbazzi in the locality.
It is not known how many candidates are going to contest in the upcoming election. Of them Anzarul Haque (Guddu) is also one among them, who is going to test is luck as area’s representative ones again.
When asked what he will do for Okhla, Guddu, 47, told OKHLATIMES.COM that he would focus on cleanliness drive in the locality. Have you done anything till now? When elected representatives have done very little for the locality then how can you expect me (an unelected person) do anything, he said.
If he fights in the election then it won’t be his first tryst with politics. He has been contesting elections for the last 12 years. In 2015 he was MLA candidate on INL ticket.
Guddu came to Delhi in 1989 and is seen at places at time of crisis. He said: “The people should first vote me to power and then see what I can do. I will religiously work for the locality with main focus on cleanliness. The area has been left abandoned by elected representatives.”
These days Guddu is not aligned with any political party and hence he is open to even contest as independent candidate.
