Cable theft cuts off many netizens in Okhla from virtual world

Cable theft in Okhla cuts off many netizens from virtual world.

For days there is internet blackout in parts of Okhla. The worst hit MTNL users are residents residing in Abul Fazal Encalve, Shaheen Bagh and other places, according to an official.

The official said cable was cut in Sarita Vihar and hence internet is not working. It might take a few more days for things to get back to normal in the locality as work to fix up the cable has already begun, said the official.

Many residents, who use MTNL landline and internet, have been cut off from the virtual world due to unavailability of internet.

Residents have been hit hard by the service. A resident, who runs a café in Jamia Nagar, said he has applied to get the MTNL service disconnected due to not so good service.

“Despite paying money, we don’t get up to the mark service. When my internet was not working I called the official and was told that due to cable theft service will not be provided for days. It was then that I decided that it is time to get it disconnected. I am thinking of getting new connection from local internet service provider,” he said.

The number of people who use MTNL service is not known exactly but it is understood that the number is high.
Moreover, cable theft in the locality is not something new.
