Black band protest in Jamia against lynching, killing of innocents (video)

As expected the black band protest against lynching and killing of innocents was held in Jamia Millia Islamia today. Since morning when students and employees started coming in on the campus after it opened after summer break, many were seen handing them over black band at several entrances of the university.


Student leader Meeran Haider said preparation for the event was started a few days ago when after coming to know that several university associations have given a call for this event we students also decided to joined in. “Since morning we were at the entrance gate with some university association members distributing black band to students and employees,” Meeran told OT.COM.

Earlier, S M Mahmood, secretary, Jamia Teachers’ Association, said members of Jamia Teachers’ Association, Jamia School Teachers’ Association, Jamia Administrative Staff Association and Shafiqur Rehman Kidwai Association will wear black band to protest against mob-lynching , killing of innocents and Amarnath Yatris on Monday from 9:00 am.

During Eid too black band protest was held peacefully with many devotees going for morning prayer in Jamia mosque were seen wearing black band. Then the protest was held after reports had surfaced of lynching of Hafiz Junaid in a train before Eid.
