With less than a fortnight left for the April 23 MCD polls, aspirants of political parties have launched campaigns to win hearts and minds of residents.
In such a situation, the locality is witnessing regular rallies and door-to-door campaign with some candidates even resorting to out-of-the-box ways to woo voters.
Former AMU leader Sarwar Iqbal Khan, who is contesting on JD(U) ticket from Okhla’s ward number 102 S, took out a bike rally a day ago in the locality.
To drum up support, Sarwar’s supporters launched a campaign on the social media and WhatsApp informing residents about the vent.
“Please make your presence felt at a bike rally in support of Mohd Sarwar Iqbal, who is JDU candidate, on April 9 at 4pm. The rally will begin from our office at 40 futta road Shaheen Bagh. Make sure to be a part of it,” wrote a message sent to many for Sarwar’s campaigners.
Sarwar is from Bihar and has been residing in the locality for years. Sarwar and his fans are sure that he will sail through as the deprived locality needs a leader who works for development and is educated.
An AMU alumnus, Sarwar dabbled in politics during his college life and established him as a student leader in the university, said sources.
