Okhla-based activists despatch relief consignment to flood-hit districts of Bihar

Since the flood ravaged several districts of Bihar, many residents of Okhla are deeply worried about the prevailing conditions in their hometowns. Efforts are on to help the flood-hit people in Bihar. A relief consignment was desptatched to the area by Bihar Anjuman Delhi chapter and Al-Khair Foundation.

“First relief consignment is being sent to Betya district in Bihar where the conditions are pathetic due to flood,” Syed Ali told OT.COM.

Besides, some students of Jamia Millia Islamia area also working overtime to collect relief items to be sent to the flood hit areas.

“Flood wreaked havoc in various districts of Bihar hitting hundreds and thousands of people. With the overall situation remaining unchanged, victims are suffering due to shortage of relief materials. Relief operations by Rehab India Foundation in the flood-hit areas are in full swing right from day one. Relief materials were distributed in Sahebtola VDP. Boats were used to carry relief materials as the entire village is surrounded by flood water. One hundred and fifty kits consisting of food materials and other basic essentials were distributed. The beneficiaries were extremely thankful as this one was the only relief aid available to them,” said a representative of RIB.
