Batla House road work leaves traffic in knots

The construction of sturdy road by the DMRC in Batla House has brought relief to residents who for months have been commuting with great hardship on the road that had developed several potholes. However, the delay in the work has increased residents’ misery who are spending hours in road jams with the road being narrowed.

Welcoming the DMRC’s move, Rozy Khanam said the delay is making things difficult. “I know that after a few days things would be fine. But it took longer than expected to construct the road. Residents who know about the small patch of road being constructed are avoiding the rout and going via Okhla Head, leading to traffic snarl there too,” she said.

Other residents said the work is a good move and we ask the DMRC to extend the road construction work in the whole area where metro is being laid. “As you go a few meters, you can find road in bad shape with potholes. This strip should also be constructed by the DMRC. The Okhal Head to Jamia road should be built immediately to bring in relief for the residents,” said Shahzad.

A few months ago several activists too had sit on dharna to protest against bad conditions of roads in the locality.
