On the ninth anniversary of Batla House encounter the issue has surfaced once again but on a low level with an independent journalist Asad Ashraf holding an event in Ghaffar Manzil where Jamia Teachers’ Solidarity Association Manisha Sethi addressed the gathering where the issue of judicial enquiry into the matter was also raised.
Save a few posts on the social media, local residents are avoiding to talk about the issue that had rocked the locality nine years ago on September 18. The ‘encounter’ had resulted in the death of Inspector Sharma, a veteran of dozens of encounters and two young men, Atif Ameen and Sajid, according to JTSA post.
In initial days, the issue was milked to the hilt by local politicians.
A few years ago Arvind Kejriwal had visited Abul Fazal Enclave and addressed the gathering. Then Kejriwal was trying to expand his newly formed party’s post in Delhi and he was not the chief minister.
Kejriwal’s video grabbed by OT.COM exclusively had gone viral on YouTube grabbing innumerable footfalls. The video was copied by many and parked on the YouTube with each video getting more than thousand views.
Moreover, the video courted controversy also getting many negative comments. Nine years after the incident it is worth watching again.
