If you are coming from Shaheen Bagh-Sarita Vihar Road then it is better suggested to avoid it as AAP workers and its leaders are protesting over the arrest of Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan from his Batla House residence over allegedly threatening a woman of Jasola, according to eyewitnesses.
AAP leader Zia Chaudhury, who was on the spot protesting for the earliest release of the MLA, said the road has been blocked in protest. Since morning when the news spread in the locality several leaders and workers turned up at the Jamia Nagar police station to express their anguish over the arrest.
Security too has been beefed up in the locality.
It is reported that the MLA was picked up from his house in Batla House for questioning in a case after a Jasola-based woman filed a complaint that she was threatened by a youth at the house of Okhla AAP MLA where she had gone to complain about poor power service in the locality.
The arrest of the MLA has been confirmed by police. “We have arrested the legislator on Sunday morning as the complainant again informed the police that he was threatening her and also trying to manipulate the evidences. We will produce him in court on Sunday,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Rajeev Ranjan told reporters.
