Since morning there was speculation that whether Arvind Kejriwal will attend Iftar party thrown by suspended Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan or not. A report regarding this was carried by several online national dailies that was filed a news agency.
But the speculation was rested as Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal attended the Iftar party orgnaised by AAP Okhla workers at Jamia’s Dr Ansari Auditorium. After the event was over, the photo of the party was posted by Amanatullah Khan and his supporters on the social media.
The party on university campus had courted controversy as it was held just a few days after RSS leader Indresh Kumar attended one such Iftar party on the campus at the Sports complex. Then students and some local leaders had protested against the invite. Moreover, even before the invite, the card was shared on the social media sparking debate on the campus and among alumni on whether university premises should be given to political parties for holding Iftar or any such event.
Heavy security arrangements were also made on the campus with horses to being roped in. Though the reason behind such security arrangements were could not be ascertained the buzz on the campus was that some residents from Sonia Vihar were expected to protest at the site following reports of alleged demolition of mosque in their locality a few days ago the video of which is being circulated on the social media. A few Muslim-run portals have even done a story on the incident.
With nothing like this happening many said it must be rumours and nothing else.
A student, who attended the Iftar, said everything was done peacefully and there was no protest as such.
