Since the arrest of Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan from his Batla House arrest on July 24, AAP workers have continued their peaceful protest for the release of the MLA immediately.
After his bail plea was rejected on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till August 9, some party workers have organised indefinite hunger strike demanding earlier release of the MLA who was arrested after a Jasola-based woman had alleged that she was threatened at the MLA’s house where she had gone to complain about power cuts, an allegation that the AAP MLA has vehemently denied even claiming that he didn’t know the woman.
Saeed Ahmad, Media in-charge AAP Okhla, confirmed the development to OKHLATIMES.
His arrest had sparked comments from senior AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. After his arrest on Sunday, several party workers gathered at the Jamia Nagar Police Station. After a while the workers moved to Sarita Vihar-Shaheen Bagh Road. Later on a large number of them took a bust to Saket Court where the MLA was presented for bail. His bail plea was rejected.
Several workers turned up at Saket Court on Tuesday with hope that their leader would get the bail. However, when the bail plea was rejected they were deeply upset. On Monday too Nabeel Khan had sit on strike nearby Jamia Nagar Police Station.
