Campaign against alcoholism and drug abuse caravan lands in Okhla

Members of Nasha Mukta Bharat Andolan team visited Okhla. They visited local NGO office in Abul Fazal Enclave to spend some moments with the local activists. The caravan, including Medha Patkar, Dr Sunilam, Shahid Kamal, Inamul Haque and others, was started from Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat to Rajghat to fight against alcoholism and drug abuse across the country.

The caravan is organized by Ghaffar Manzil-based organisation.

Residents lamented that the issue of drug abuse is increasing in the locality with many youths involved in intoxication. According to a local NGO about 1,000 people are hit by drug abuse.

Though residents have been talking about drug abuse in the locality, according to Okhla watchers, no ground work has been done to address the menace as it appears that self-proclaimed activists are more interested in photo opportunities and strengthening their networks.
