The alleged delay by AIMIM’s Delhi unit in releasing the list of candidates for the upcoming April 23 MCD elections has not gone down well with some workers and party’s sympathizers in the locality.
The buzz among many is that the party might not contest elections after the UP debacle. However, Delhi unit party’s president Irfanullah Khan said there is nothing like this.
“We are finalizing from how many wards the party will contest. Things are in the final phase and list could be declared by tomorrow,” he said. Despite this assurance, the unease inside the party is growing with one worker even resigning a few days ago.
Afzal Ansari, who had quit AAP to join AIMIM, too is not very happy with the turn of events in the party and the delay in ticket distributions.
Nominations for the MCD elections are end on April 3.
An AIMIM supporters said on the condition of anonymity that had the party announced the candidates list earlier it would had only helped candidate to start campaigning early in the locality.
After several AAP workers quit the party to join AIMIM there were hopes that the Asaduddin Owaisi’s party would emerge stronger in the locality. For that hope now appears to be diminishing as many have started looking towards candidates of other parties.
