Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) today organised a day-long health camp in the neighbouring area of Abul Fazal Enclave where free health checks up and medicines were provided to poor and needy people.
The camp was organised by JMI’s Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari Health Centre and the Faculty of Dentistry on the campus of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
Inaugurating the camp, JMI Vice Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad said the university always believed in service to humanity and has been organising health camps regularly in slums and localities with large poor population. This camp, he said, was also part of that mission.
He thanked Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for providing the space for organising the health camp. Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, Ameer of the Jamaat, praised JMI for providing free health care for poor and needy people who could not access such facilities.
The camp was organised under the direct supervision of Dr. Irshad H Naqvi, Chief Medical Officer of Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari Health Centre and Prof. Saranjit Singh Bhasin, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, JMI.
Dr. Naqvi said JMI has been organising such camps for the poor and weaker sections of the society. Dr. Bhasin said that people were given treatment for various ailments as also for dental problems.
