The second list has been released by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today for the upcoming MCD polls. In total names of 89 candidates have been announced. Of them Zakir Nagar-based activist, who runs several schools in Okhla, have got the ticket from another women reserved seat in Okhla.
“My mom has been selected as the AAP candidate from ward number 101 S Sarita Vihar,” said Khan’s son Nabeel, who too was in the contest for getting ticket from 102S that went to Mahmood Ahmad.
The party had earlier announced ticket of two seats.
AAP Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey said the list, which features around 51 women, has several candidates who have been “loyal” to the party since its inception.
“The focus was largely on rewarding people who have been working dedicatedly for the party for long,” Pandey said.
Other prominent names in the list include Aasma Masood, the wife of Masood Ali Khan who had contested the 2013 Assembly polls from Seelampur on an AAP ticket.
Earlier, the AAP has announced that the party had received overwhelming response as 10,000 applications from aspirants eyeing the 272 seats had applied.
Of these, 3,522 are from North MCD, 3,673 from South and 2,902 from East MCD.
The party intends to take on the ruling BJP and Congress in this upcoming MCD polls.
