AAP replaces tainted candidate for MCD polls after announcing his name

Careful to portray its clean image in the upcoming civic agency elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said it has replaced a candidate for the upcoming municipal corporation polls here after finding that a criminal case was registered against him.

A few weeks ago when the party had announced the name of candidates, Vijay Pawadia from Dwarka was lucky to scoop a ticket. The AAP had declared his name for election to the municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD).

“The party received a complaint about the candidate that he had a criminal case against him. On investigation, it was found to be true, so his candidature had to be cancelled,” said AAP’s Delhi unit secretary Saurabh Bharadwaj as reported by PTI.

The polls to the MCD dominated by BJP for more than a decade is to be held on April 22 with results to be announced on April 25. All parties are getting ready for the big fight with AAP talking the lead in announcing its candidates from almost all the seats.

The BJP and the Congress are expected to announce the name of candidates soon.

Meanwhile, the AAP that had swept Delhi Assembly elections two years ago is intending to topple the BJP. The party has started campaign blitz in the city through its projector carrying message of Delhi Chief Minister nad party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

It has been reported that more than 1,500 projectors are being used to show a video carrying the work done by the AAP government in Delhi in the last two years.

Also, the party has started door-to-door campaign in several wards.
